Renewable energy is generated from natural resources such as Sunlight, Wind, Rain, Tides and Geothermal Heat which are renewable (naturally replenished).
There are effective alternatives to fossil fuels that can meet your energy requirements and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Things like the wind, the sun and flowing water will not run out while things like waste products and crops are continually replaceable. These can help reduce our dependence on non-renewable sources like fossil fuels.
Around a quarter of the UK’s Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions come from UK homes, amounting to over 40 million tonnes each year, the average household emits around 12 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide every year which could easily be reduced by about two tonnes through improved energy efficiency.
UK emissions of Carbon Dioxide currently account for about 2% of the global total. At present renewable energy provides only 2.7% of UK electricity and less than 1% of the overall energy used.
